Make A Wish

Make-A-Wish® Colorado began in 1983 in memory of 7-year-old Jennifer Mazak. Although Jennifer did not receive a formal wish, she wanted to see the KIMN Chicken, a local radio mascot. When the KIMN Chicken was told of Jennifer’s wish, he came to visit her at her home. While Jennifer’s appearance had prompted teasing and stares from neighborhood children, she was the envy of them all when the KIMN Chicken hugged and held her and lavished attention on her alone. With the help of friends, family and members of the community, her mother, Joan, founded the Colorado chapter of Make-A-Wish shortly after Jennifer passed away, to bring that same magic to other children.

We are reminded of Jennifer’s smiles each time we fulfill a wish. In 2023, Make-A-Wish Colorado is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and the more than 6,000 wishes granted to eligible children throughout Colorado.

L.O.L.A.'s Rescue

L.O.L.A.’S Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue organization.  Our founder, Roni Taylor, has been saving animals since she was a teenager. She formalized the rescue in 2011, after her Weimaraner, Lola, passed away. Since then, we have successfully placed over 7,000 dogs in forever homes. Our rescue was founded on the idea of being able to save as many at risk animals as possible from uncertain futures, while upholding the highest regard and values for animals in our care.  Our concentration is on animals from high kill shelters and at-risk animals in abuse, neglect, and abandonment situations, reducing the number of euthanasia (due to overcrowding) in our shelters and surrounding areas. We rehabilitate these animals so they can be placed in amazing, loving homes without the threat of an uncertain future.
